Reverse-Grip Barbell Curl

Overhand grip on the bar; the forearm extensors and the brachioradialis take the lead and the weight drops accordingly.

How to do it

Setup

OVERHAND grip on the bar at shoulder width, elbows pinned.

Steps

  1. Curl the bar up with the knuckles leading.
  2. Keep the wrists straight and firm.
  3. Lower to full extension.

Common mistakes

Loading like the underhand curl: the reverse grip takes notably less; respect it. Wrists collapsing: they carry the show; keep the line. Elbows flaring: in at the sides.

Breathing

Exhale on the curl, inhale lowering.
