Resistance Band Shoulder Stretch Behind the Back

Seated, one hand holds a band behind the head while the other pulls it down behind the back, drawing the raised elbow deeper.

How to do it

Setup

Seated tall on a stool, one arm bent overhead holding the top of a band behind the head, the other hand holding it low behind the back.

Steps

  1. Pull the band down with the lower hand behind the back.
  2. Let the raised elbow point up as its hand drops lower behind the head.
  3. Hold and breathe, then switch arms.

Common mistakes

Pulling the band hard: build the tension slowly to a firm stretch. Head pushed forward by the arm: keep it back against the raised arm. Leaning away from the raised arm: sit tall and square.

Breathing

Slow and even through the hold.
