Resistance Band Overhead Squat

The overhead squat against a long looped band stood on and held overhead in straight arms; the band pulls hardest as you stand.

How to do it

Setup

Standing on a long looped band, feet shoulder-width, the loop held overhead in straight arms.

Steps

  1. Squat down with the arms locked overhead.
  2. Keep the band in line over the feet.
  3. Stand up against the band's pull.

Common mistakes

Band slipping off the feet: stand on it with the whole foot. Arms bending as the band tightens: a lighter band. Chest dropping at depth: stop where the arms stay overhead.

Breathing

Big breath at the top, exhale past the sticking point.
