Resistance Band Overhead Hit

Standing under a flat band stretched across the top of a rack, one straight arm drives up into it over and over, pressing it up and letting it back.

How to do it

Setup

Standing under a flat band stretched across the top of a rack at arm's reach, one arm straight overhead with the hand under the band.

Steps

  1. Drive the straight arm up into the band, lifting it a hand's width.
  2. Let the band push the arm back down a little.
  3. Keep hitting at a steady pace, then switch arms.

Common mistakes

Bending the elbow to punch: the arm stays long; the shoulder lifts it. Leaning back to reach the band: stand under it, ribs down. Shrugging the shoulder into the ear: reach up tall, then let the shoulder settle.

Breathing

Steady throughout; never held.
