Dumbbell Push Press
The push press with a dumbbell on each shoulder: a short dip of the knees drives the bells up, and the arms finish the press overhead.
How to do it
Setup
Standing, feet hip-width, a dumbbell held at each shoulder, palms facing in.
Steps
- Dip a short way at the knees, the torso upright.
- Drive through the legs and press the bells overhead.
- Lock out, then lower the bells back to the shoulders.
Common mistakes
Dipping too deep: a short, fast dip is enough. Pressing before the legs drive: the leg drive starts the bells. Arching the lower back overhead: brace and keep the ribs down.
Breathing
Inhale at the dip, exhale on the drive.
