Rear Deltoid Stretch

One straight arm is drawn across the chest by the other forearm until the back of the shoulder stretches; held for time.

How to do it

Setup

Standing or seated tall, one arm straight across the chest at shoulder height.

Steps

  1. Hook the other forearm over it just above the elbow.
  2. Draw the arm in until the back of the shoulder stretches.
  3. Hold and breathe, then switch arms.

Common mistakes

Shoulder hitching to the ear: press it down before you pull. Twisting to follow the arm: the chest faces forward. Pulling on the elbow joint: hook the arm above it.

Breathing

Slow and even through the hold.
