Reach Forward Upper Back Stretch

Push the stacked hands forward at shoulder height and let the head drop; the shoulder blades spread apart.

How to do it

Setup

Standing, arms forward at shoulder height, one palm resting on the other hand.

Steps

  1. Push the hands straight ahead as far as they go.
  2. Drop the head and spread the blades apart.
  3. Hold and breathe, then lower the arms.

Common mistakes

Tipping the whole body forward: hips stay over the feet; only the arms and blades travel. Arms drifting down: keep them at shoulder height. Shrugging: reach forward, not up.

Breathing

Slow and even through the hold.
