Push-Up, illustrated

How to do it

Setup

High plank, hands under the shoulders, body one rigid line from head to heels.

Steps

  1. Lower the chest to just above the floor, elbows about 45° from the body.
  2. Keep the line – no sagging hips.
  3. Press back up to straight arms.

Common mistakes

Hips sagging: brace the abs harder. Elbows flared to 90°: the shoulders take the strain; tuck toward 45°. Half reps at the top: reach full lockout each time.

Breathing

Inhale down, exhale on the press.
