Prisoner Half Sit-Up

The half sit-up with the hands laced behind the head: without the hands sliding along the floor, the abs carry the whole rise.

How to do it

Setup

Lying flat with the legs straight, fingers laced behind the head, elbows wide.

Steps

  1. Curl up to an upright seat, the elbows staying wide.
  2. Pause tall without pulling on the head.
  3. Lower slowly back to the floor.

Common mistakes

Pulling the head forward with the hands: the elbows stay wide and the hands only rest. Heels lifting to help: keep the legs flat. Collapsing back down: lower under control.

Breathing

Exhale sitting up, inhale rolling down.
