Incline Leg Hip Raise (Leg Straight)
On an incline bench, head at the top, raise the straight legs to vertical and then push the hips up off the pad.
How to do it
Setup
Lying on an incline bench, head at the high end, hands gripping the bench behind the head, legs straight past the low end.
Steps
- Raise the straight legs until they point at the ceiling.
- Push the feet up so the hips leave the pad.
- Lower the hips, then the legs, back to the bench line.
Common mistakes
Legs dropping past the bench line: the lower back arches; stop level with the bench. Knees bending to cheat the lift: the legs stay straight throughout. Swinging the legs over the head for the hip lift: the feet rise straight up.
Breathing
Exhale as the legs rise, inhale as they lower.
