Lying Leg-Hip Raise

Lying on a flat bench, bring the long legs up and tuck the knees in as the hips curl off the pad, then stretch them back out low.

How to do it

Setup

Lying on a flat bench, hands gripping it behind the head, legs long and level with the bench.

Steps

  1. Raise the legs and tuck the knees toward the chest.
  2. Curl the hips off the bench at the top.
  3. Lower the hips and stretch the legs back out to bench level.

Common mistakes

Legs dropping below the bench: the lower back takes over; stop at its level. Yanking with the arms: the grip only anchors you. Skipping the hip curl: the knees alone leave the abs half idle.

Breathing

Exhale drawing the knees in, inhale extending.
