Machine Stack Seated Incline Single-Arm Chest Press

The seated incline machine press on a weight-stack machine, one arm at a time; the free hand rests across the stomach and the working side presses alone.

How to do it

Setup

Seated, back on the pad, one handle at the upper chest, the free hand across the stomach.

Steps

  1. Press the handle up and forward until the arm is straight.
  2. Keep the working shoulder down against the pad.
  3. Lower the handle back to the upper chest; switch arms after the set.

Common mistakes

Twisting the torso after the handle: both shoulders stay on the pad. Short reps with a heavy stack: full reach and full return. Plates resting between reps: stop just short of the stack.

Breathing

Exhale pressing, inhale returning.
