Machine Stack Seated Decline Chest Press

The seated decline chest press on a weight-stack machine: the handles pressed forward and down from the lower chest against a pinned stack.

How to do it

Setup

Seated with the back on the pad, handles level with the lower chest, feet flat, blades drawn back.

Steps

  1. Press the handles forward and down to straight arms.
  2. Stop just short of locking the elbows.
  3. Let the handles come back to the chest under control.

Common mistakes

Handles meeting the chest too high: set the seat so they line up with the lower chest. Shoulders rolling forward at the end: keep the blades back on the pad. Letting the stack crash between reps: slow return, no rest on the stack.

Breathing

Exhale pressing, inhale returning.
