Machine Reverse-Grip Lateral Pulldown (Plate-Loaded)

The plate-loaded lever pulldown with the palms facing you; the underhand grip drives the elbows down along the ribs and brings in more biceps.

How to do it

Setup

Seated, thighs under the pads, the handles taken underhand overhead, arms long.

Steps

  1. Pull the handles down to the shoulders, elbows close to the ribs.
  2. Keep the wrists straight in line with the forearms.
  3. Let the levers rise until the arms are long again.

Common mistakes

Curling the handles with the arms: drive the elbows down; the biceps only help. Wrists bending back under the load: a straight line from knuckles to elbow. Leaning back to finish: stay tall with a lighter load.

Breathing

Exhale pulling down, inhale returning.
