Machine Banded Chest Press
The seated machine chest press with bands looped from the handles to the frame; the bands add resistance as the arms straighten, so lockout is the hardest part.
How to do it
Setup
Seated, back on the pad, handles at mid-chest height, a band looped from each handle to the frame.
Steps
- Press the handles forward, driving through the bands' pull at the end.
- Squeeze at full reach, where the bands pull hardest.
- Return slowly without letting the bands snap the handles back.
Common mistakes
Bands of different tension on each side: match them before the set. Stopping short of lockout as the bands bite: finish every rep. Rushed return: the bands speed it up; resist them.
Breathing
Exhale pressing, inhale returning.
