Lying Scissor Crunch

The shoulders held up in a crunch with the hands behind the head while the straight legs scissor high and low past each other.

How to do it

Setup

On your back, shoulders curled off the floor, hands behind the head, one straight leg up high, the other low.

Steps

  1. Swap the legs, the high one lowering as the low one rises.
  2. Keep the shoulders curled up the whole time.
  3. Scissor in a steady rhythm, the low heel never touching down.

Common mistakes

Pulling on the neck: the hands only rest behind the head. Shoulders sinking to the floor: hold the crunch; it is half the exercise. Lower back lifting as the low leg drops: press it down and keep that leg higher.

Breathing

Steady throughout; never held.
