Kneeling Lat Stretch on Box
Kneeling with the forearms on a box in front, the chest sinks below the arms; the front of the chest and the lats open together.
How to do it
Setup
Kneeling an arm's length from a box, hips over the knees, forearms flat on its top, shoulder-width apart.
Steps
- Let the chest and head sink toward the floor between the arms.
- Keep the hips over the knees and the forearms heavy on the box.
- Hold and breathe, then press the forearms down to lift the chest out.
Common mistakes
Sitting back onto the heels: the pull moves to the lats; hips stay over the knees. Bouncing the chest toward the floor: sink slowly and hold. Lower back sagging with the chest: brace the belly so the drop comes from the shoulders.
Breathing
Slow and even through the hold.
