Kettlebell Single-Arm Sit-Up

The sit-up with the legs straight and one kettlebell held up on a locked arm; the bell stays pointed at the ceiling from the floor to the top.

How to do it

Setup

Lying on the back, legs straight, one kettlebell held up over the shoulder on a locked arm, the other arm along the floor.

Steps

  1. Curl up to sitting, keeping the bell arm vertical.
  2. Finish tall with the bell straight overhead.
  3. Roll back down slowly, the arm still locked.

Common mistakes

Bell drifting forward over the face: keep the arm vertical the whole way. Swinging up with the free arm: roll up with the abs; the free arm only steadies. Elbow of the bell arm bending: lock it; a lighter bell if it buckles.

Breathing

Exhale sitting up, inhale lowering.
