Kettlebell Pistol Squat

The pistol squat with a kettlebell held at the chest; the bell out front is a counterweight that helps you sit back on the single leg.

How to do it

Setup

Standing on one leg, the kettlebell held by the horns at the chest, the other leg lifted in front.

Steps

  1. Sit down on the standing leg, the free leg reaching forward.
  2. Hold the bell at the chest to balance the drop.
  3. Stand up through the whole foot without the free leg touching.

Common mistakes

Collapsing into the bottom: lower under control or go shallower. Knee of the standing leg diving in: keep it over the second toe. Heel lifting: keep the whole foot down.

Breathing

Inhale down, exhale up.
