Kettlebell One-Arm Overhead Squat

The overhead squat with one kettlebell locked out in one hand; the uneven load makes the trunk fight to stay square.

How to do it

Setup

One kettlebell locked out overhead, the free arm out to the side, feet shoulder-width.

Steps

  1. Squat down with the bell stacked over the shoulder.
  2. Keep the elbow locked and the eyes forward.
  3. Stand up without letting the bell drift.

Common mistakes

Bell drifting in front of the face: stop higher and press up into it. Torso leaning away from the bell: stay square to the front. Elbow softening at depth: lighter bell.

Breathing

Big breath at the top, exhale past the sticking point.
