Kettlebell Bottoms-Up to Knee Turkish Get-Up

The get-up taken only as far as the half-kneel, with the kettlebell held bottom up; the balancing grip forces every stage to be slow and exact.

How to do it

Setup

Lying on the back, the bell pressed up bottom first on a straight arm, grip crushing the handle, same-side knee bent.

Steps

  1. Come up to the elbow and on to the hand, eyes on the bell.
  2. Lift the hips and sweep the straight leg back into a half-kneel.
  3. Pause with the bell steady, then reverse each stage to the floor.

Common mistakes

Wrist bending back under the bell: stack the knuckles over the forearm and squeeze harder. Rushing a stage because the bell wobbles: stop, steady it, then move. Letting the arm drift from vertical: the bell stays over the shoulder all the way.

Breathing

Steady throughout; never held.
