Kettlebell Turkish Get-Up to Hand

Only the first stages of the get-up: from lying with the bell pressed up, rise to the elbow and then the hand, and lie back down.

How to do it

Setup

Lying on the back, the bell locked out over the shoulder, same-side knee bent, the other arm and leg out at an angle.

Steps

  1. Drive the bent leg's foot into the floor and roll up onto the far elbow.
  2. Press from the elbow up to a straight arm on the hand.
  3. Lower back to the elbow and then the floor, the bell still vertical.

Common mistakes

Sitting up with a crunch and no push from the foot: the heel drives, the body rolls. Supporting shoulder sinking into the ear: push the floor away from the hand. Losing the vertical arm on the way down: the lowering is as strict as the rise.

Breathing

Exhale rolling up, inhale lying back.
