Kettlebell Back Squat

The squat with two kettlebells resting behind the shoulders, held by the handles; the load sits on the upper back like a bar.

How to do it

Setup

Kettlebells behind the shoulders, hands on the handles, elbows down, feet shoulder-width.

Steps

  1. Squat down, keeping the bells pinned to the upper back.
  2. Reach parallel or below with the chest up.
  3. Stand up, hips and chest rising together.

Common mistakes

Bells sliding off the back: keep the hands tight and the elbows down. Leaning far forward: the bells tip back; stay tall. Neck pushed forward: keep the head between the arms.

Breathing

Inhale down, exhale up.
