Kettlebell Assisted Bulgarian Split Squat

The hand-supported Bulgarian split squat holding a kettlebell by the handle; the bell hangs low beside the front leg.

How to do it

Setup

Kettlebell in the outside hand, the other hand on the rack, rear foot on a bench.

Steps

  1. Sink until the bell hangs just off the floor.
  2. Keep the wrist straight, the bell hanging plumb.
  3. Rise through the front foot, the rack only steadying you.

Common mistakes

Bell knocking the front shin: hold it a little out to the side. Wrist bending under the handle: keep it straight. Pulling on the rack to rise: it steadies, the leg lifts.

Breathing

Inhale down, exhale up.
