Incline Hip Raise

On a sloped bench with the head at the top, the straight legs point at the ceiling and the hips lift off the pad in a short push.

How to do it

Setup

On a sloped bench, head at the high end, hands gripping the bench behind the head, legs straight up over the hips.

Steps

  1. Push the feet toward the ceiling, lifting the hips off the pad.
  2. Keep the legs straight and vertical; the pelvis does the lifting.
  3. Lower the hips to the pad slowly.

Common mistakes

Swinging the legs to throw the hips up: the legs stay vertical and still. Legs tipping back over the head: push straight up, not back. Dropping the hips onto the pad: lower them slowly.

Breathing

Exhale lifting the hips, inhale lowering.
