Hip Lift (Low Back Off Floor)

Lying with the straight legs pointing at the ceiling, the hips lift off the floor as if pushing the feet up, then lower.

How to do it

Setup

Lying on the back, arms along the floor, legs straight up over the hips.

Steps

  1. Curl the hips up so the lower back leaves the floor.
  2. Push the feet straight up, not over the face.
  3. Lower the hips slowly back down.

Common mistakes

Swinging the legs to get the hips up: lift with the abs. Legs tipping toward the face: keep them vertical. Pushing through the arms: they only rest on the floor.

Breathing

Exhale curling up, inhale lowering.
