Incline Close-Grip Push-Up with Chair against Wall

The close-grip push-up from a chair seat braced against a wall; the raised hands lighten it, the wall stops the chair sliding.

How to do it

Setup

Chair backed against a wall, hands close on the front of the seat, body one line.

Steps

  1. Lower the chest to the seat's edge, elbows tucked.
  2. Keep the heels, hips and shoulders in one line.
  3. Press back until the elbows are straight.

Common mistakes

Chair not braced: push it flat against the wall first. Hands on a soft cushion: use the firm front edge. Hips sagging because the angle feels easy: keep the body one line.

Breathing

Inhale down, exhale pressing.
