How to do it

Setup

Half-kneeling: one knee down on something soft, the other foot flat in front, torso upright.

Steps

  1. Tuck the tailbone under and squeeze the glute on the kneeling side.
  2. Press that hip forward until the front of the back thigh lengthens.
  3. Hold there without letting the torso lean forward.
  4. Switch sides and match the time.

Common mistakes

Arching the lower back instead of moving the hip: tuck the tailbone first. Leaning the chest forward, which takes the stretch straight back out. Holding one side twice as long as the other; match the count.

Breathing

Slow breaths through the nose; exhale as the hip settles forward.
