Hamstring Bridge

A floor bridge with the feet set far from the hips and the knees only slightly bent, which hands most of the lift to the hamstrings.

How to do it

Setup

On your back, heels on the floor well past the knees, knees slightly bent, arms flat at the sides.

Steps

  1. Dig the heels in and pull them toward you to lift the hips.
  2. Rise until the body is straight from knees to shoulders.
  3. Lower slowly without letting the heels slide.

Common mistakes

Feet creeping closer between reps: reset them far out; the distance is the exercise. Cramping at the back of the thigh: shorten the range and build up. Arching to get higher: stop at a straight line.

Breathing

Exhale driving up, inhale lowering.
