Kettlebell Swing Clean-Grip Front Squat

A complex with a kettlebell in each hand: swing both back, clean them to the chest and front squat.

How to do it

Setup

Feet wider than the hips, a kettlebell in each hand hanging between the legs, hips hinged.

Steps

  1. Swing both bells back between the legs, then snap the hips through.
  2. Clean them to the chest, the hands up by the chin.
  3. Front squat, stand, and let the bells drop into the next swing.

Common mistakes

Lifting the bells with the arms: the hips throw them; the hands guide. Bells crashing onto the chest: meet them with the elbows in. Squatting before the bells are settled: rack them, then sit.

Breathing

Exhale on the swing, inhale at the chest, exhale standing.
