Front Cross Over Shin Stretch

Standing with one foot crossed in front of the other on the tops of its toes, bend the standing knee; the front of the crossed shin and ankle stretch.

How to do it

Setup

Standing tall, one foot crossed in front of the other, the tops of its toes on the floor.

Steps

  1. Bend the standing knee slowly to press that ankle toward the floor.
  2. Keep most of the weight on the standing leg; a hand on a wall helps.
  3. Hold and breathe, then switch feet.

Common mistakes

Dropping the whole weight onto the pointed foot: let the standing knee do the lowering. Foot rolling onto its outer edge: keep the tops of the toes flat. Pushing through a sharp pain on the top of the foot: ease back to a stretch.

Breathing

Slow and even through the hold.
