Elbow Planche

From kneeling, the hands on the floor and the bent elbows dug into the hips, the legs float back until the body is level on the hands; held still.

How to do it

Setup

Kneeling, hands on the floor with the fingers forward and turned out, elbows bent and pressed into the front of the hips.

Steps

  1. Set the hips onto the elbows and walk the feet back until the legs are long.
  2. Lean forward until the feet lift and the body is level.
  3. Hold, then lower the toes to come out.

Common mistakes

Fingers turned back: that is the peacock; turn them forward and out for this lever. Elbows sliding off the hips: set them on the front points of the pelvis. Head dropping toward the floor: keep it in line with the body.

Breathing

Steady throughout; never held.
