Dumbbell Seated Hammer Curl

The hammer curl seated on a bench with the back against an upright pad; sitting takes the legs and hips out of it.

How to do it

Setup

Seated upright, back to the pad, dumbbells hanging at the sides, palms facing the body.

Steps

  1. Raise both dumbbells together toward the shoulders.
  2. The palms face the body from bottom to top.
  3. Lower until the bells hang past the seat.

Common mistakes

Back leaving the pad to heave the bells: stay against it. Elbows drifting forward off the sides: keep them by the ribs. Bells swinging back past the hips at the bottom: stop them hanging still.

Breathing

Exhale on the curl, inhale lowering.
