Dumbbell Scott Press
A standing dumbbell press that starts higher than the shoulders, bells at ear height in front of the face, and finishes on straight arms overhead.
How to do it
Setup
Standing tall, bells at ear height in front of the face, elbows pointing forward and out.
Steps
- Press both bells straight up until the arms lock out overhead.
- Keep the ribs down and the head still as the bells pass it.
- Lower back to ear height in front of the face, elbows forward and out again.
Common mistakes
Starting from the shoulders like a regular press: the bells begin higher, in front of the face; that start is the variant. Leaning back to get the bells overhead: ribs down, glutes tight. Bells clashing over the head: keep them a hand apart at the top.
Breathing
Exhale pressing, inhale lowering.
