Resistance Band Lateral Hit

Standing beside a flat band stretched upright in a rack, the straight arm swings out and up to strike it sideways, a lateral raise that meets a band at the top.

How to do it

Setup

Standing side-on to a flat band stretched from the top to the bottom of a rack, the near arm straight, a hand's width from the band at the top of its swing.

Steps

  1. Swing the straight arm out and up to strike the band sideways.
  2. Let the band bounce the arm back a little.
  3. Keep striking at a steady pace, then switch sides.

Common mistakes

Bending the elbow to hit harder: keep the arm long; the shoulder swings it. Leaning away from the band to add range: stand tall and square. Shrugging on each hit: the shoulder stays down as the arm rises.

Breathing

Steady throughout; never held.
