Dumbbell Rear Lunge from Step
The dumbbell reverse lunge stepping back off a low step, so the back knee drops lower than the front foot and the glute works through more range.
How to do it
Setup
Standing on a low step, dumbbells at the sides, feet hip-width.
Steps
- Step back off the step into a deep lunge.
- Lower the back knee toward the floor, the front shin near vertical.
- Drive through the front heel to return onto the step; alternate legs.
Common mistakes
Step too high for your hips: start low; the extra depth builds. Front foot sliding off the edge: keep it fully on the step. Bells bumping the knee: keep them hanging at the sides.
Breathing
Inhale stepping back, exhale rising.
