Dumbbell Side Lunge

The side lunge holding one dumbbell upright at the chest; the load stays centered while one hip sinks.

How to do it

Setup

One dumbbell vertical at the chest, feet together, toes forward.

Steps

  1. Take a wide side step, hips back over that foot.
  2. Far leg straight, bell at the chest.
  3. Push back to center, feet together.

Common mistakes

Bent knee drifting inside the foot: press it out toward the little toe. Chest dropping toward the knee: bell high, back flat. Straight leg's foot lifting onto its edge: keep it flat on the floor.

Breathing

Inhale into the lunge, exhale pushing back.
