Dumbbell Rear Delt Raise

The behind-the-body rear delt raise with dumbbells: the elbows draw up and back, the bells rising beside the hips.

How to do it

Setup

Stand tall, bells hanging at the sides slightly behind the hips.

Steps

  1. Draw the elbows up and back, the bells rising close to the body.
  2. Pause at the top without leaning forward.
  3. Let the bells sink back to the sides slowly.

Common mistakes

Shrugging the bells up: the elbows lead; the shoulders stay down. Leaning forward to lift higher: the range is short; stand tall. Bells swinging away from the body: keep them close.

Breathing

Exhale on the pull, inhale lowering.
