Dumbbell Pullover to Press Bridge

A floor combination: pull two dumbbells over from behind the head, then press them up as the hips rise into a glute bridge.

How to do it

Setup

On your back, knees bent, feet planted, a dumbbell in each hand with the arms long on the floor behind the head.

Steps

  1. Pull the bells over the face until they are above the chest.
  2. Press them straight up as you drive the hips into a bridge.
  3. Lower the hips and take the bells back overhead in one slow motion.

Common mistakes

Bells crashing onto the floor behind the head: lower them slowly, elbows soft. Pressing before the bells are over the chest: pull over first, then press. Arching the lower back in the bridge: ribs down, the glutes lift.

Breathing

Inhale on the pullover, exhale on the press and bridge.
