Dumbbell Pronated to Neutral-Grip Row

The two-dumbbell bent-over row that starts with the palms facing back and turns them to face each other as the bells rise.

How to do it

Setup

Hinged to about 45°, back flat, the bells hanging with the palms facing back.

Steps

  1. Row the bells, turning the palms to face each other on the way up.
  2. Finish with the elbows along the body.
  3. Turn the palms back as the bells lower.

Common mistakes

Turning the palms only at the very top: the turn runs through the whole pull. Elbows flaring as the palms turn: they end along the ribs. Losing the hinge: the torso angle stays.

Breathing

Exhale on the row, inhale lowering.
