Dumbbell Jumping Squat
The jump squat with a light dumbbell hanging in each hand; the load raises the demand, so the jumps stay low and crisp.
How to do it
Setup
Bells hanging at the sides, feet shoulder-width, arms long.
Steps
- Squat down, bells hanging straight under the shoulders.
- Jump up with the arms still, the bells riding along.
- Land soft, knees over the toes, and sink into the next rep.
Common mistakes
Bells too heavy to jump with: choose a load that still lets you leave the floor fast. Arms swinging the bells: they hang still; the legs lift them. Stiff-legged landings: soften the knees and let the hips sink back.
Breathing
Exhale on the jump, inhale landing.
