Dumbbell Jump Box
The box jump with a dumbbell hanging in each hand; the load keeps the box low and the landing honest.
How to do it
Setup
Facing a low box, bells hanging at the sides, feet hip-width.
Steps
- Hinge and dip, the bells hanging straight down.
- Jump onto the box with the arms still.
- Land soft on whole feet, stand tall, then step down one foot at a time.
Common mistakes
Swinging the bells for height: they hang; the legs jump. Box picked for the unloaded jump: the weights cost height; lower the box. Stepping down fast with the bells: slow and one foot at a time.
Breathing
Exhale on the jump, inhale on the step-down.
