Dumbbell Incline Hammer Press on Stability Ball
The palms-in incline dumbbell press lying back on a stability ball, hips low; the trunk, not a bench, holds the angle.
How to do it
Setup
Upper back on the ball, hips dropped below the shoulders, feet planted hip-width, bells at the shoulders palms-in.
Steps
- Drive both bells up until the arms are straight over the upper chest.
- Hold the hips low and still; the angle must not change.
- Lower the bells back to the shoulders, elbows close to the ribs.
Common mistakes
Hips drifting up level with the shoulders: that is the flat press; keep them low for the incline. Grip twisting to palms-forward as the arms straighten: thumbs keep pointing toward the head. Ball rolling under the back: plant the feet and let only the arms move.
Breathing
Inhale down, exhale on the press.
