Dumbbell Head-Supported Row

Two dumbbells rowed from a deep hinge with only the forehead resting on a low incline bench, the torso near level.

How to do it

Setup

Standing at the end of a low incline bench, hinged until the forehead rests on its top, bells hanging.

Steps

  1. Row the bells to the hips, elbows along the body.
  2. Keep the forehead on the pad without pushing into it.
  3. Lower to a long hang.

Common mistakes

Pressing the head hard into the bench: it only touches; the back holds the hinge. Standing up between reps: the torso stays level. Rounding the lower back: bend the knees more.

Breathing

Exhale on the row, inhale lowering.
