Dumbbell Forward Leaning Lunge

Dumbbells hanging beside the front foot as the torso tips forward over it; a hip-dominant take on the forward lunge.

How to do it

Setup

A dumbbell in each hand, arms long, feet hip-width.

Steps

  1. Step forward, chest tipping over the knee.
  2. Bells hang beside the front foot.
  3. Push through the heel to stand; switch legs.

Common mistakes

Back rounding under the bells: the lean is a hinge with a flat back. Weight on the front toes: sit into the heel. Swinging up with the chest first: the heel push and the hips rise together.

Breathing

Inhale stepping in, exhale pushing back.
