Dumbbell Elevated Heel Squat

The dumbbell squat with the heels on a wedge and the bells at the sides; the knees travel further and the torso stays tall.

How to do it

Setup

Heels on a wedge, feet hip-width, a dumbbell hanging at each side.

Steps

  1. Squat straight down, the bells sliding past the knees.
  2. Go as deep as the torso stays upright.
  3. Drive up through the whole foot.

Common mistakes

Bells knocking the knees: let them hang slightly out to the sides. Heels creeping off the wedge: set the feet before the first rep. Shoulders rounding under the load: blades back.

Breathing

Inhale down, exhale up.
