Dumbbell Deadlift Bent-Over Row

The dumbbell deadlift with a bent-over row at the bottom: the knees bend and the bells go low by the shins, and the row comes before each stand.

How to do it

Setup

Stand tall, feet hip-width, a dumbbell in each hand at the sides, palms facing in.

Steps

  1. Bend the knees and hinge until the bells are low by the shins, back flat.
  2. Row both bells to the waist and lower them again.
  3. Drive through the floor to stand, the bells close to the legs.

Common mistakes

Hips shooting up before the chest: the legs and the back rise together. Torso lifting during the row: hold the bottom angle while the arms pull. Bells drifting away from the legs: keep them close to the shins and the thighs.

Breathing

Inhale down, exhale on the row, inhale, exhale standing up.
