Dolphin Pose

The Downward Dog on the forearms instead of the hands; the shoulders carry more while the backs of the legs stretch.

How to do it

Setup

Forearms on the floor, parallel and shoulder-width, toes tucked, hips lifted high.

Steps

  1. Press the forearms down and send the hips up and back.
  2. Let the head hang between the arms, heels reaching down.
  3. Hold and breathe, then lower the knees to rest.

Common mistakes

Elbows sliding wider than the shoulders: keep the forearms parallel. Chest sinking toward the floor: push the floor away and lift out of the shoulders. Rounding the back to force the heels down: bend the knees and keep the spine long.

Breathing

Slow and even through the hold.
