Alternating Leg Downward Dog

The downward dog pedaling the feet: one knee bends while the other heel sinks toward the floor, then they swap.

How to do it

Setup

Downward dog: hands shoulder-width, hips high, feet hip-width, arms and back in one line.

Steps

  1. Bend one knee, lifting that heel, as the other heel presses down.
  2. Switch sides in a slow, even rhythm.
  3. Keep the hips high and the hands pressing the floor away.

Common mistakes

Hips swaying side to side: keep them level as the legs swap. Rushing the switch: let each heel sink before the next. Shoulders sagging toward the floor: push the floor away and lengthen the back.

Breathing

Steady with the rhythm.
