Decline Diamond Push-Up

The diamond push-up with the feet up on a bench: the hands touch under the chest and the raised feet shift more of the body's weight onto the arms.

How to do it

Setup

Feet on a flat bench behind, hands on the floor with the index fingers and thumbs touching under the chest, body in one line.

Steps

  1. Lower the chest to the hands, elbows brushing the ribs.
  2. Keep the body straight from the heels to the head.
  3. Press back up to straight arms.

Common mistakes

Hips sagging from the raised feet: brace hard; the decline pulls them down. Elbows flaring out: keep them tight to the ribs; that is the triceps' job. Wrists straining under the diamond: widen the hands a touch rather than bend the wrists.

Breathing

Inhale down, exhale pressing.
